Technical
Capacities
The Core Infrastructure Services will be provided to a capacity of 2.5Gbps during 2008. This can be increased at a future date, if required, through the mechanism of the Technical Design Authority.
Individual sites can order connectivity services at a variety of capacities ranging from 1Mbps DSL services to 1Gbps fixed links.
Services outside of these initial services offerings can be made available if required, subject to clarification with the PSBA Supplier.
Gateways
Controlled and managed access to a number of gateways and interconnects are either planned or can be provided as follows:
- For health needs, the N3 network, used by the NHS in England;
- Super Janet 5, used by the HE&FE and Local Government sectors in England
- Potential future gateways including access to GCSX
Quality of Service
The PSBA network offers a six-layer QoS model on all but the most basic of connections as standard. The traffic management, mapping and values associated with the QoS model will be established through consultation with each Sector. These models will be controlled by and defined by the Sectors.
